The Kenya Civil Aviation Authority (KCAA) has confirmed the crash of a helicopter that was carrying tourists in Mt Lolokwe, Samburu County.
According to KCAA the chopper, a Eurocopter EC130 B, registration 5Y0-GYM crashed on Wednesday morning at around 9am.
“The aircraft was conducting a flight from Loisaba to Ewasonyiro when the accident occurred at approximately 0913hrs local time,” said the authority.
KCAA said they were coordinating the relevant agencies in response to the accident but is yet to know whether the number of people killed in the accident.
“The Ministry of Roads and Transport, Air Accident Investigation Department is leading investigations on circumstances surrounding the accident,” said KCAA.
A police report earlier had said that six tourists were on board the ill-0fated copter though their identities were yet to be established.
The cause of the crash was not immediately established and videos from the crash scene showed debris from the copter.
