The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has revealed that a serving police officer allegedly pulled the trigger in the killing of Dr Victoria Mutiso, in what detectives describe as a meticulously planned and ruthlessly executed assassination.
He said the officer, who is attached to Karinde Police Station in Kikuyu, has since been arrested.
"This is a betrayal of the uniform," DCI Amin said.
Police say an investigation led to Nderi Police Station where the murder weapon, a Mini Jericho pistol, was recovered. This then led to the arrest of another police officer, who had been issued with the gun.
Arrest of the officer adds to the four people already held over the murder of Dr Mutiso in Upper Hill on the morning of July 29, 2026. Others are Rose Mbithe Mulwa, her two children Angela and Chris Mulwa, and Nelson Masiga Makaralu.
