Violence marred the first day of former Deputy President and Democracy for Citizens Party (DCP) Leader Rigathi Gachagua’s political tour in Nakuru County after goons stoned some vehicles in the convoy.
Mr Gachagua was expected to address supporters in Soko Mjinga market in Nakuru Town West after making various stops in Naivasha, where he opened DCP offices in Gilgil Town and Free Area in Nakuru Town East.
A number of vehicles were targeted by a group of youth armed with crude weapons and hurling stones, forcing those in the convoy to flee for safety.
The armed youth intercepted the convoy in Githima area while it was making its way to Soko Mjinga, where at least ten vehicles were stoned in the attack that followed.
Addressing supporters in Nakuru Town, Mr Gachagua condemned the violence, linking the local MP Samuel Arama to the disruption.
“DCP is a peaceful party, we were supposed to have our rally in Nakuru Town West but we were attacked. Several of our vehicles have been stoned,” he said.
