Slain psychologist Dr Victoria Mutiso was buried at Wanzauni Village in Makueni County in an emotional send-off marked by grieving relatives breaking down in tears.
Her widower, Professor David Musyimi Ndetei, fought back tears as he eulogised his wife before breaking down in the middle of his speech. The founder of the African Institute of Mental and Brain Health said he had left the matter to God to avenge.
"Yes, we are hurting so much, but I have forgiven those who hurt our family beyond human comprehension," Prof Ndetei told mourners on Friday.
Prof Ndetei's remarks came shortly after Director of Criminal Investigations (DCI) boss Mohammed Amin identified police officers as the killers of his wife. Mr Amin also linked Prof Ndetei's former wife, Rose Mulwa, to Dr Mutiso's death.
Prof Ndetei did not comment on the long-standing property dispute involving Dr Mutiso and Ms Mulwa, which is the subject of investigations into the brutal killing of his wife by gunmen in Nairobi.
Dr Mutiso was 57 years old. Mourners heard that she had feared for her life in her final days.
