Safaricom Elevates Caroline Wambugu to Group Finance Leadership Role

Safaricom PLC has appointed Caroline Wambugu as Group Lead for Finance Controls, Performance and Investor Relations, widening her responsibilities across the company’s finance function.

• She moves up from her previous role as Head of Finance, Planning, Analysis and Investor Relations, which she had held since joining Safaricom in December 2021.
• Her expanded portfolio will now cover financial controlling, reporting, treasury, tax, shared services and credit collections.
• She will also retain responsibility for performance management and investor relations. 

Before joining Safaricom, Wambugu spent close to six years at Absa Bank Kenya as Head of Finance Decision Support. She previously worked at NIC Bank, now part of NCBA Group, for nearly 13 years after joining the lender in 2003.

Wambugu is a Certified Public Accountant, CPA-K, and has approximately 24 years of professional experience.
