The Nairobi Securities Exchange has crossed KSh4 trillion in total valuation for the first time, less than nine months after crossing KSh3 trillion, as Safaricom and listed banks powered one of the fastest expansions in market value on record.
- The bourse closed at KSh4.012 trillion on Monday, August 3, after gaining KSh20.92 billion from the previous session, extending one of its strongest rallies in decades.
- Since the beginning of 2026, listed investor wealth has increased by KSh1.07 trillion, lifting total market capitalization 36.3% from KSh2.94 trillion at the end of 2025.
- The milestone comes after the NSE created KSh1.01 trillion in investor wealth during 2025, making 2025 and 2026 the first back-to-back trillion-shilling wealth creation years on record.
The market first crossed the KSh3 trillion mark in November 2025 and took less than nine months to add another trillion shillings in value, highlighting the strength of the ongoing equity rally.
The exchange has now added more than KSh2.08 trillion in market value since the end of 2024.

Safaricom remains the dominant force behind the milestone. The telecommunications giant is now valued at KSh1.46 trillion, accounting for approximately 36.4% of the NSE's total market capitalization after adding KSh420.40 billion in shareholder value this year alone.
The banking sector has also been central to the rally with the lenders being worth KSh1.64 trillion, making them the largest sector on the exchange, ahead of telecommunications at KSh1.47 trillion. Together, the two sectors account for approximately 77% of the NSE's total market value.
